About Us
THE BEGINNING
Hello my name is Karla Rocha and my history of love for the culinary began about 25 years ago in Brazil, when I was a child and helped my mother preparing Brazilian pastries. Since that time she used to manufacture and supply fine pastries for weddings and events in Brasilia, my hometown. I grew up watching her love, dedication and hard work. At home, the success of each new recipe was always celebrated and the customer satisfaction was something that motivated us to move forward. I totally believe that all these feelings and knowledge, so important in the art of cooking, I bring with me to this day.
The life that not always follow a straight line, conducted me to other horizons, so I graduated, got married, I had a daughter and then I moved to Canada. Because the lack of time, during all that period, my passion for cooking was asleep.
Arriving with my family in Canada, my life changed again. In Ottawa, I became a housewife, responsible for my daughter and full time English student. As any immigrant I missed a lot my family, my culture and the flavours of Brazil, at that time I began to recover my old and traditional Brazilian recipes as a way to feel less homesick. The desire to share a bit of our culture with friends from all over the world, motivated me to prepare snacks and desserts that were very well accepted by them. After knowing our food some friends started asking me to sell them out and we did it. Our first production was totally sold in 1 day. From then on we started to see the possibility of something bigger.
MY RECIPES
Every recipe I prepare, I do it as it was for my family. I use fresh herbs and high quality Canadian and Brazilian products, besides I put a lot of love on everything I prepare and this feeling gives me the confidence that my products are different from anything available in the market. What is the most important to me is that I really love to see people's reaction when they taste Brazilian Pastries snacks and sweets for the first time. Their reactions make me really proud and beyond that, make me very happy, because I know I can provide a different experience for people's taste.
